The Cumberland Health Authority (CHA) has jurisdiction for the provision
of health care in this scenic and friendly area of Nova Scotia. Five
health care sites spread across a large geographical area serve the
needs of approximately 33,000 citizens. The District's services range
from acute to long-term care and include public health, addiction and
mental health programs. A total staff complement of nearly 700 health
professionals and support staff provide quality care to patients. The
District has a medical staff of approximately 75 physicians in family,
consulting and locum practices. The CHA's corporate offices are located
in the county seat of Amherst, a town of approximately 10,000 residents.
