With the move to the new hospital in October 2002, the Diagnostic Imaging Department at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre has much more space available as well as access to new equipment and technology including a CT-Scan machine - a first for Cumberland County. The Department is located on the first floor just down the main corridor from the ambulatory care services area and maintains its own registration desk.
In addition to the CT-Scan, mammography, ultrasound and general radiology, the facility is also equipped with a Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS). The main function of PACS is to digitize images so they can be transferred to a computer network allowing for electronic transfer and viewing. A department staff of 21 and radiologist Dr. David Toms work as a team to provide 24-hour emergency and in-patient coverage as well as scheduled appointments for the various services.
Hours of Operation
Appointments are normally booked between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday with staff available for in-patient needs and on-call coverage on evenings and weekends.
