The long-term care services at South Cumberland Community Care Centre
(SCCCC) in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia are offered in conjunction with an out-patient/emergency
department with 24-hour on-call emergency coverage. Assessment and stabilization
of life-threatening conditions prior to transfer as well as diagnostic
services utilizing the laboratory and x-ray are provided. Geriatric assessment
clinics are conducted and services such as diabetes education, physiotherapy
and occupational therapy, social work, dietary and mental health clinics
are provided on a part-time basis by staff from other county sites.
The South Cumberland Community Care Centre has been part of the Parrsboro
community since 1947 with the present facility opening in 1975. It is
a 16 bed facility with 14 long term care beds and 2 swing/palliative
care beds.
